Chelsea have confirmed that England youth international of Nigerian descent, Tariq Uwakwe has been offered a new contract.
The player would become a free agent July 1 if he does not put pen to paper on the fresh deal.
Manager, Maurizio Sarri had invited Uwakwe by February to train with the first team ahead of their Premier League meeting with Tottenham Hotspur.
He was a valuable member of the youth team last season, featuring in the UEFA Youth League, EFL Trophy and Premier League 2.
Also the club has retained as many as eight Nigeria-eligible players.
The players include: Victor Moses, Kenneth Omeruo and Ola Aina have been retained along with Tammy Abraham, Fikayo Tomori, Faustino Anjorin, Ike Ugbo and Jordan Aina, according to allnigeriasoccer.com.
