Enugu Community Tense As Violence Breaks Out Over Herdsmen Attacks

Alleged attacks by suspected herdsmen have caused violence to break out in the Eha-Amufu community in Enugu State’s Isi-Uzo Local Government Area.

Sources, who spoke with Vanguard on Tuesday with accompanying videos, narrated that one Israel Mgborogwu was held by women of the community for allegedly claiming on social media that herdsmen did not attack the community.

In the videos, the women accused Mr Mgborogwu of being responsible for the sale of Eha-Amufu land to unidentified persons. They also alleged that he gave information about farmers to herdsmen.

A source in the Eha-Amufu community said that the president general of the community, Odo Donatus, escaped being held by the protesting women.

Odo’s telephone lines were switched off when he was contacted.

Also, the police public relations officer in Enugu, Daniel Ndukwe, failed to pick up calls and did not respond to messages.
