The Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps, NSCDC, Osun State Command has disclosed that it arrested an ex-convict, Kayode Owoseni,35, a specialist in phone theft and fraud.
A statement issued by its spokesperson, Kehinde Adeleke on Sunday, disclosed that the suspect was arrested alongside his colleagues, Olasunkanmi Adesina, 42 and Kehinde Bankole, 32, at different locations in Osogbo.
The State Commandant, Kehinde Adaralewa said the arrest followed a complaint from one of their victims, whose phone was stolen.
He added that the suspects stole a shop owner’s phone in Inisa, Odo-Otin local government area of the state while pretending to buy satchet water on June 14, 2024.
After her complain, operatives of the command swung into action and arrested members of the syndicate on July 1 after which Owoseni confessed to have been jailed twice for similar offence, Olasunkanmi affirmed to be a cultist apart from specializing in phone theft.
He further confessed that the stolen, though sold, but had used the SIM card dupe many residents pretending to be herbalist before destroying the SIM card.
Commandant Adaralewa, therefore, assured residents of Osun State that the suspects would be made to face the full wrath of the law.
He also called on criminally minded people in the state to desist from their activities or face the consequences of their actions.
