Abia State governor, Dr. Okezie Ikpeazu has urged the children of Late Lolo Nkechinyere Dorathy Apugo, mother of Honourable Chukwudi Apugo Member representing Umuahia East State Constituency to reflect on the virtues and values their mother left behind.
The Governor tasked them to hold her virtues tenaciously so it could live on in their hearts forever.
Speaking at the late Nkechinyere Dorathy Apugo’s funeral on Saturday at Nkata Ibeku, Umuahia North LGA, Governor Ikpeazu recommended that they embrace peace, perseverance, and truthfulness as they forge ahead with life.
In a statement issued on Saturday by Mr. Onyebuchi Ememanka, Chief Press Secretary to the Governor made available to ABN TV, he described life as vanity upon vanity, saying that death marks an end of human intervention in life and condoled with the family, urging them to bear the loss with fortitude.

He said, “The Governor used the opportunity to thank the Lord’s Chosen Charismatic Revival Ministries and the entire Abia Christian Community for their ceaseless prayers for him, especially during the time he was infected with COVID-19 and urged all to continue to stay safe.
“Also speaking, the Speaker Abia State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Chinedu Orji urged them to bear the loss with fortitude and enjoined them to sustain the legacy of love and humility their mother bequeathed for them. He said if it were possible to keep her alive, the children would have done that, but regretted that death is inevitable.
“The sermon was preached by Pastor Charles Ibezim of The Lord’s Chosen Charismatic Revival Ministries.
“In a funeral oration on behalf of the family, one of the sons of the deceased, Mr Emeka Apugo described their Late mother, Lolo Nkechinyere Apugo as a passionate, committed and outstanding teacher whose sense of humility and service was overwhelming as she was accessible regardless of her exalted status and background. He said that their mother was a committed member of the Lord’s Chosen Church, who gave her time, treasure, and talent to the church until her death, adding that her kind-heartedness, generosity, and caring disposition endeared her to all who came across her hence they would miss her dearly.
“Late Lolo Dorathy Nkechinyere Apugo who was aged 75 years is survived by her husband, Prince Benjamin Apugo, 7 children including Mr Ikechukwu Martin Apugo, former General Manager of ASEPA and founder, Diamond Football Academy, Honourable Chukwudi Apugo, Member representing Umuahia East State Constituency at the Abia State House of Assembly amongst others.
“Deputy Governor Sir Ude Oko Chukwu and his wife, Lady Vivian, Senator Enyinnaya Abaribe led some senators from other states to the burial, Deputy Speaker of the State Assembly, Rt. Hon Ifeanyi Uchendu, Members of the House of Representatives, Honorables Sam Onuigbo, Solomon Adaelu, and Darlington Nwokocha were also present as well as Senator Mao Ohuabunwa.
“Members of the State Assembly, the Secretary to Government and other members of the State Executive Council, the State Chairman of the PDP, Rt Hon Allwell Asiforo Okere, Nigeria’s former Ambassador to Argentina, Chief Empire Kanu and many other top guests”.
