Emir Of Gusau, Alhaji Ibrahim Bello, Dies At 71

Governor Dauda Lawal of Zamfara State has announced the passing of the Emir of Gusau, Alhaji Ibrahim Bello, who died at the age of 71 after a prolonged illness.

The announcement was made in a statement by the governor’s spokesperson and senior special assistant on media, Sulaiman Idris. According to the statement, the Emir died on Friday morning in Abuja.

Governor Lawal expressed deep sorrow over the loss, describing it as a personal tragedy and a great loss to the people of Zamfara.

“I received with profound sadness the news of the death of our father, His Royal Highness, Dr. Ibrahim Bello, the Emir of Gusau,” the governor stated.

He praised the late emir as a dedicated and supportive traditional ruler who worked tirelessly to improve the lives of his people.

“The late Emir of Gusau was a committed leader and a father figure who played a vital role in the progress of Zamfara State,” he said.

The governor extended his condolences to the Zamfara State Council of Chiefs, the Emir’s family, the Gusau Emirate, and all citizens of the state, noting that the loss resonates beyond Zamfara to the entire northern region and Nigeria.

Alhaji Ibrahim Bello served as the 15th Emir of Gusau, ascending the throne on March 16, 2015. He reigned for 10 years, marked by dedication, faith, and service to his people.

Before becoming Emir, he had a distinguished career in the civil service, rising to the position of Permanent Secretary in the former Sokoto and Zamfara States.

“I have lost a trusted confidant and father whose wisdom greatly guided me and many other leaders in the state. May Almighty Allah forgive his shortcomings and grant him eternal rest in Aljannah,” Governor Lawal concluded.
