Elon Musk and Linda
Elon Musk, the wealthy founder of Tesla Inc., has selected Linda Yaccarino for the position of Twitter’s new chief executive officer (CEO).
Musk announced the news in a tweet on Friday.
The news comes less than 24 hours after Musk said that he had found a replacement for the role.
“I am excited to welcome Linda Yaccarino as the new CEO of Twitter,” Musk tweeted.
“Linda Yaccarino will focus primarily on business operations, while I focus on product design and new technology.
“Looking forward to working with Linda to transform this platform into X, the everything app.”
Musk stated that with Yaccarino on board, he would serve as both chief technology officer (CTO) and chairman.
Yaccarino, 60, is the head of the advertising council’s board of directors, the chairman of a World Economic Forum task force, and the global chair of Ymu, a British talent-management organization.
Yaccarino was the advertising chief of NBC Universal for more than 12 years prior to her appointment as Twitter’s CEO.
Yaccarino is set to return to Twitter in six weeks, officially becoming the company’s first female CEO.
Since its inception, the microblogging platform has been led by five men: Jack Dorsey, Evan Williams, Dick Costolo, Parag Agrawal, and Musk.
