Electricity Tariff: Let’s Avoid Things That Will Attract Stoning From Our Constituents, Rep Ogah Begs [VIDEO]

In response to the planned electricity tariff hike by the Nigerian Electricity Regulatory Commission (NERC), member representing Isuikwuato/Umunneochi federal constituency of Abia State, Hon. Amobi Ogah has urged his colleagues to take a drastic step and stop any action that would cause their constituents to stone them.

Speaking at a stakeholders meeting with relevant bodies in the power sector at the National Assembly complex, the Abia lawmaker expressed strong disapproval of the price hike, saying no improvement in power supply justifies the increment in tariff.

“You increased end users’ tariff when you have not recorded any achievement and you expect Nigerians to just accept it”, he queried.

The lawmaker also expressed concern that with the increase in petrol prices, there will be no need to raise petroleum pump prices, insisting that Nigerians are already overburdened.

According to him, “A motion should be moved that the tariff should be suspended for now. Our people are not taking it so lightly with us, so that they will not start stoning us within our constituency”, he noted.
