The Election Petition Tribunal sitting in Umuahia, Abia State capital, today struck out the petition filed by John Azubuike, the candidate of Action Alliance, AA in Abia North, following a motion for it’s withdrawal
John Azubuike was challenging the victory of Senator Orji Uzor Kalu in the just concluded February 25 election.
The petition with the following registration No: EPT/AB/SEN/1/2023, was struck out by the court after hearing from legal representative of the petitioner, Kalu Kalu Agu Esq and counsel for the 2nd and 3rd respondents, Udo Uduma Esq and Victor Etie Esq respectively.
However, in response, Udo Uduma Esq commended the petitioner for the nobility in conceding defeat and congratulating the legitimate winner of the election.
He also called on Senator Mao Ohuabunwa of PDP and Mr Nnamdi Orji of Labour Party to follow the path of honour, concede defeat and congratulate Senator Orji Uzor Kalu who was duly elected and returned.
