Ekiti Chief Judge, Adeyeye, Reportedly Dead At Age 64

Oyewole Adeyeye, the Chief Justice of Ekiti State, passed away at the age of 64, according to confirmation from the state’s judiciary.

The Ekiti State Judiciary has confirmed the death of the state’s Chief Justice, Oyewole Adeyeye, who died at the age of 64.

According to the statement, the late Adeyeye was a respected jurist who dedicated his life to upholding the principles of fairness, equity, and justice.

The statement reads, “It is with profound sadness that the Chief Registrar of Ekiti State Judiciary, Adegoke Olanike, Esq., announces the passing of Ekiti State Chief Judge, Hon Justice John Oyewole Adeyeye, after a brief illness.

“The late Chief Judge was a respected jurist who dedicated his life to upholding the principles of fairness, equity, and justice.

“His contribution to the development of the judiciary and Ekiti State at large is immeasurable, and his legacy will be deeply missed.

“Further details will be announced in due course.”

Adeyeye was sworn in as a CJ on October 11, 2021, by former Governor Kayode Fayemi.

He was born in 1960 in Araromi Ugbesi in Ekiti East Local Government of Ekiti State and was called to bar in 1986.

The late CJ started his career as a state counsel in the civil service of the old Ondo State before joining the Ekiti State Judiciary Service Commission shortly after the creation of the state in 1996.

He got elevated to the position of judge in the Ekiti State High Court in 2002 and has served at different times in the election petition tribunals.
