The Chancellor of Gregory University Uturu Prof Gregory Ibe has congratulated Muslims in the country at this year celebration of Eid-el Maulud.
He urged Nigerians to use this opportunity to pray for the restoration of peace in all parts of the country.
In a congratulatory message signed by Sleek Ogbonnaya Ogwo, Deputy Registrar, Media & Public Relations of the institute and made available to ABN TV, Prof. Ibe further urged Muslim faithful to use the event which coincides with the birthday of the Islamic Prophet Muhammed, to fervently pray to Allah for complete healing of Nigeria.
The statement read, “According to him, Firstly, I join good-spirited people all over the world in congratulating our Muslim brothers as they celebrate the birthday of Prophet Muhammed, may the peace and blessings of Allah be upon him.

“However, against the backdrop of the recent spate of violence and general insecurity in different parts of Nigeria, I encourage the Muslim Ummah to use the holy season for concerted prayers to Allah coveting the restoration of tranquillity and assurance of healing for our nation.
“Turning to the Abia Muslim community, Prof Ibe enjoined them to continue to pursue and ensure peace with all men, stressing that it is only in an environment of harmony that they can make progress in their different endeavours.
“He thereby encouraged them to feel at home in the state, reaffirming his willingness to sustain periodic interactions with them. In his words, To my Abia Muslim brothers, I once more join my Governor Dr Okezie Ikpeazu to charge you to sustain prayers for peace in our dear Gods Own State, while striving to maintain cordiality with your neighbours.
“Meanwhile, as you know, my door remains open to you for periodic consultations, interactions and celebrations. Here is wishing all my Muslim brothers happy Eid-el Maulud celebration”.
