The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) has confirmed the arrest of Martins Innocent Otse (VeryDarkMan) following multiple petitions alleging his involvement in serious financial crimes.
According to the Commission, Otse was invited for questioning after receiving a series of petitions detailing alleged financial malfeasance. Despite several invitations sent through his known addresses and communication channels, he failed to honor them.
The EFCC clarified that his arrest was not in response to recent public attacks he launched against the Commission’s operations, describing such behavior as condemnable. It stressed that the arrest was based solely on credible allegations and the need to properly investigate the claims.
The anti-graft agency revealed that a valid Remand Order was obtained to detain Otse, in accordance with the law. He has since been offered administrative bail and will be released once he meets the bail conditions.
While acknowledging the strong interest of Nigerians in its activities, the EFCC urged the public to refrain from making unfounded insinuations about its motives and allow the Commission to carry out its constitutional responsibilities without fear or favor.
It assured that charges will be filed against Otse upon the conclusion of ongoing investigations.
