Fifteen people have been arrested by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission in Makurdi, Benue State, on suspicion of committing online fraud.
According to a statement on Tuesday via X, the arrests were made by operatives of the Makurdi Zonal Directorate at Abu King Shuluwe Street, Akpehe, following actionable intelligence on their alleged fraudulent activities.
The EFCC added that various items were seized during the operation, including two cars, five laptops, and 17 mobile phones.
The agency stated, “The suspects were arrested at Abu King Shuluwe Street, Akpehe, Makurdi metropolis, based on actionable intelligence on their suspected involvement in internet fraud.
“Items recovered from them include two cars, five laptop computers, and 17 mobile phones, among others. The suspects would be charged in court as soon as their investigations are concluded.”
