Edo Train kidnap: Twelve More Abducted Travelers Rescued, Abductors Hold Two Railway Workers

Twelve passengers who were abducted on January 7, 2023, at the Edo State train station at Igueben have been freed.

In a statement on Sunday, Police Commissioner Mohammed Dankwara described the operation.

Armed men attacked as the passengers waited to board a train towards Warri in Delta State.

According to the police commissioner, combined security forces assaulted the Igboha woodland on the basis of technical intelligence and released the residents without incident.

Eunice Esaba, age 56, Marian Mowoe, age 28, Faith Smart, age 42, Precious Egwuje, age 28, Obehi Omaben, age 39, Amm Benson, age 42, and Favour Akungo, age 18, were all saved.

Aguelle Beatrice, 42, Christian Iyere, 33, Emmanuel Esieba, 67, Iyoha Julius, 25, and 48-year-old Akhimen Ehiemamen are the others.

The additional 12 casualties raise the total number of people who have been saved to 18 according to Dankwara.

The two other people who are still being held are NRC employees.

Dankwara reaffirmed that security agencies are working together to release the captured government employees.
