Deputy Speaker of the House of Representatives, Rt. Hon. Benjamin Okezie Kalu has congratulated Edo State Governor-Elect, Senator Monday Okpebholo on his victory at the just concluded September 21, 2024 governorship election.
The Deputy Speaker also hailed his colleague, Hon. Dennis Idahosa who was elected Deputy Governor of the State.
It will be recalled that the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) declared Okpebholo and his running mate, Idahosa both of whom ran on the platform of the All Progressives Congress (APC) winners of the Governorship election after polling a total of 291,667 votes to beat Asue Ighodalo of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP who scored 247,655 votes and the Labour Party, LP, candidate, Olumide Akpata with 22,763 votes.

Kalu who commended Edo people for returning APC to power in the State said that the party is consolidating its success in Southern Nigeria.
He urged Okpebholo to show magnanimity in victory and also urged the incoming administration to work for the people of Edo to elevate the current status of the State in line with the Renewed Agenda of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu.
Kalu also commended the electoral umpire, INEC and the security agencies for ensuring that the electoral process ran seamlessly without the breakdown of law and order in the State.
