The school, previously in a dilapidated state, had become unsuitable for learning, prompting many parents to withdraw their children. However, this new project has rekindled hope among the community members. Teachers, parents, and students expressed heartfelt gratitude, emphasizing that the new facility has renewed their commitment to education and is a significant step toward improving educational standards in the area.

In an interview with ABN TV, the association’s president, Mr. Ndukwe Uche, shed light on the organization’s objectives and achievements. “The Association of Ebem Patriots is a non-political, non-religious group focused on addressing critical needs in our community. Since our establishment three years ago, we’ve implemented impactful projects, including the installation of solar-powered streetlights across various parts of Ebem Ohafia. This year, we turned our attention to education by reconstructing a block of three classrooms at Kpoke Primary School, providing a conducive environment for learning.”

Mr. Uche revealed that the project cost over ₦6 million, funded entirely by the association’s 19 members through personal contributions. He noted that the initiative aimed to inspire others to contribute to community development, a vision that has already started yielding results with other groups springing up to undertake similar efforts.

The commissioning event was graced by other dignitaries, including the Education Secretary of Ohafia Local Government Area, the association’s patron Chief Uduma Okoro (Omeka Nnaya), and the head teacher and staff of Kpoke Primary School.

Looking ahead, Mr. Uche assured that the association remains committed to its mission, with plans to embark on another impactful project in 2025. “God willing, we’ll take on a bigger project next year. Our goal is to consistently contribute to the upliftment of our community. In five or six years, we want people to look back and see tangible changes we’ve made,” he said.

This initiative by the Association of Ebem Patriots is a testament to the power of collective action and a beacon of hope for a brighter future for the children of Ebem Ohafia.
