An Abia State House of Assembly aspirant, Anthony Chinasa Abiola has officially joined the Labour Party, LP days after announcing his resignation from the APC.
Abiola who is gunning to represent Umuahia Central State Constituency said he was dumping the APC over alleged inconsistencies, hijack of party by single individual, and undemocratic practices.
At a press conference in Umuahia on Monday, he said the Labour Party became his choice after consultations among stakeholders and supporters, stating that the party has come to stay in the state and constituency.
“I am urging my followers and supporters to join this family. It’s a party which identification and logo is human being.
“It’s a party that represents a family. I am urging us as a family to join another family so that we can build another family. There’s a saying that a society is built from the family. If we can get our family right, we will get our family right. We are now in a family and by the grace of God, we will get it right in 2023,” he said.
Mr. Abiola denied participating in the primary election in which he was said to have scored nil, insisting that he was not a member of APC when the election was conducted.
He said he withdrew from the primary election and tendered from the party, a letter which was received and acknowledged by APC.
