DSS, Security Agencies Meet In Abia To Synergize Efforts (Photos, Video)

The South East Zonal State Directors of Security met in Umuahia, the capital of Abia State, in the first quarter of 2023 with a demand for the maintenance of peace and security throughout Abia State and the South East.

Magaji Bichi, the director general of the Department of State Security, gave his approval for the meeting to take place at the Abia State Command Headquarters in Umuahia.

Speaking at the occasion, Friday Onuche, Director of DSS Abia State Command, stated that the conference’s goals were to work together and create synergies to see what each security agency is doing in a unique way to bring about peace as well as to examine the difficulties encountered in the region and offer answers.

Aminu Hena, Chairman of the South East Conference of State Directors of Security and SDS Enugu State, spoke on behalf of the Director General of State Services Bishi Magazi, and said that the meeting had been postponed because of the 2023 general elections.

Hena informed other security agencies of the meeting’s quarterly schedule, noting that it alternates between all the South East’s States and provides an opportunity for discussion and analysis of the problems in each of those States.

The commander of the 14th Brigade of the Nigerian Army, Brigadier General Adegoke Moses Adetuyi, made the statement on behalf of all the security agencies in the state. He also added that security is not a one-man operation.

“We come together to deliberate on the issue of security and analyze those areas that are peculiar to the state and the environment.”

According to Adetuyi, thanks to the coordinated efforts of several security agencies, Abia is one of the most stable and safe states in the South East Zone.

In his remarks, Sopuruchi Bekee, the commissioner for homeland security for Abia State, praised security organizations for their efforts in keeping the state peaceful and assured them of the state’s continuing support.
