An errant official of the Department of State Services, DSS identified as Agboese Alex Nnamdi has been arrested for inflicting a bodily harm on Barrister Chinedum Elechi the campaign Director General of Abia State PDP governorship candidate, Prof. Uche Ikonne.
The incident happened at about 3pm on Sunday along Azikiwe road Umuahia.
ABN TV was reliably informed that trouble started when the DG allegedly scratched the red Sienna car of the DSS official attached to Enugu command along Azikiwe road.
While the DG attempted to navigate his way in the busy road to ascertain the level of damage done, the belligerent official of the secret police blocked him at the junction linking Azikiwe road by BCA road.
He was said to have reached out to a machete in his car and immediately landed it on the DG, inflicting a deep cut on his head.
While he was reeling in the pain of the first cut, the security official landed him another one on his hand.
This was said to have caused a chaotic situation in the area but the swift intervention of officers of the Abia State Police Command forestall a possible breakdown of law and order as suspected thugs had wanted to mob the DSS personnel.
He has since been arrested while Ikonne’s campaign DG is currently receiving treatment at an undisclosed hospital.
The DSS was not available for a comment as at the moment of this report.
It is expected that the police will conduct further investigation and arraign him before a court of competent jurisdiction.
