A leading figure in youth development, Hon. Dr. Martina Amarachi Ononiwu, has officially endorsed the Abia Youth Social Media Summit 2026, reaffirming her commitment to empowering young people in the state through digital innovation and skills development.
The endorsement came during a courtesy visit by members of the Abia Progressive Youth Movement to Dr. Ononiwu in Umuahia.
Speaking during the meeting, Dr. Ononiwu, a cybersecurity and artificial intelligence expert, described the summit as a strategic platform to tackle youth unemployment by equipping young people with relevant digital skills.
She announced plans to offer free training sessions for Abia youths, focusing on how to monetize social media platforms and generate income in foreign currencies such as Euros and Dollars.
Dr. Ononiwu further revealed her intention to expand the summit into a two-day event featuring masterclasses and a general conference, aimed at providing participants with practical knowledge, networking opportunities and exposure to industry experts.
According to her, the initiative is designed to foster entrepreneurship, innovation and self-reliance among youths in Abia State.
In addition, Dr. Ononiwu used the opportunity to declare her intention to contest for the Umuahia/Ikwuano Federal House of Representatives seat, pledging to deliver quality representation with a strong focus on youth inclusion and development.
“As a young leader, I understand the challenges facing our youths, and I am committed to creating opportunities that will help them thrive,” she stated.
Leader of the delegation, Dr. Eze Chinedu, commended Dr. Ononiwu for her vision and dedication to youth empowerment, noting that her support for the summit reflects her genuine interest in addressing the needs of the younger generation.
He also appreciated her efforts in enhancing the scope of the Abia Youth Social Media Summit, describing it as a timely intervention that will positively impact many young people in the state.
