… Says It Took Buhari 6 Months To Appoint Ministers
Commissioner for Information in Abia State, Chief John Okiyi Kalu has accused the opposition APC of sitting behind computer and conjuring things up, saying there is nothing to worry about on a lean cabinet currently in place at the state government.
The Commissioner also reminded the APC that it took President Muhammadu Buhari a whopping six months to constitute his cabinet, insisting that it has not translated to effective performance in office.
Speaking on Monday when he featured in current affairs programme, The Platform on Flo FM Umuahia monitored by ABN TV, the Commissioner while saying that Abia APC chapter is disconnected from reality took a swipe at the Buhari-led federal government for not converting the prolonged delay before constituting his cabinet members to good performance for the good of Nigerians.
Chief Okiyi Kalu stated that expanded cabinet is not synonymous with performance.
While accusing the APC led federal government of abandoning all the promises they made to Nigerians in 2015, the Commissioner wondered why the APC has created more problems than they have solved.
“If expanded cabinet is synonymous with performance of government, why is the federal government not performing?
“Why do we have problems everywhere? Why have they abandoned the restructuring they promised our people in 2015. All the promises they made, which one are they even fulfilling now?
“In 2015, the party called APC promised us they were coming to restructure. Just yesterday the leader of the same party (Buhari) said nobody should mention anything about restructuring again. What does that speak to?” he queried.
He further stated that there are times when a lean cabinet becomes necessary to conserve resources, insisting that no vacuum is created in the business of Abia government.
The Commissioner accused APC of eagerly waiting for members of PDP who may be left out when the expanded cabinet is constituted to defect to APC.
He said the APC is waiting in vain to harvest members of Abia PDP whom they have been wooing, stating that nobody leaves light for darkness.
He emphasized that the incidents across the country in recent days and months have further made it an anathema for anyone to discuss APC in Abia.
The Commissioner assured that very soon, an expanded cabinet will be inaugurated.
Recall that since the dissolution of the state Executive Council earlier in the year, the governor has maintained a lean cabinet.
This however has not gone down well with the opposition party in the state led by the APC as it has accused the state government of pilfering the funds budgeted for the Ministries in the absence of Commissioners.
