A former Green Eagles star, Mr. Arthur Egbunam has said the nation’s football industry has not performed up to expectation.
He attributed it to the influx of the industry by non-professional actors whom he said are there to make money without making much impact.
Speaking with ABN TV on Saturday, he said lawyers, businessmen, and doctors who have flooded the industry are not allowing the core experts to take the lead in football management in Nigeria, saying they are reaping where they did not sow.
He said if compared with what was obtainable in the past, today’s players are not meeting up to expectations.

He also decried the poor welfare and non-payment of footballers, saying it’s not motivating.
He said Gernot Rohr, the current coach of the Super Eagles lacks the tactical experience to lead the team, attributing it to the failure of the team at recent football tournaments.
The former Anambra governor’s aide also said the current players are not putting in their very best to win.
He urged football managers to assemble local players by scouting for footballers from the grassroots.
While rating former Coach Samson Siasia high, he said interference from stakeholders did not allow him to give in his all.
