Despite Being APC Lawmaker, Hon. Kalu Commends Ikpeazu Over Fight Against COVID-19

  • Despite Being APC Lawmaker, Hon. Kalu Commends Ikpeazu Over Fight Against COVID-19

The Member representing Bende Federal Constituency at the National Assembly, Hon. Benjamin Kalu has commended the efforts of Abia State Governor, Dr Okezie Ikpeazu in the fight against COVID-19 pandemic in the State. ABN TV reports.

Hon. Kalu was speaking in a radio interview monitored in Umuahia recently. He said “I am supporting my Governor, the Governor of Abia State. He is at another party and I’m in another party and you also have to support the government of the day because in the peace of the land you shall have your own peace “

The federal lawmaker said he was happy that the Governor and leader of the State expressed faith that God would answer his prayer and that of the people by crowning efforts of the Governor with success and protect the State from the pandemic.

“I’m so happy that God is listening to the prayer of the Governor of Abia State. I was interviewed once and they said my Governor said he is believing Abia is God’s Own State and COVID-19 would not have its impact here but people thought it was a joke.

“I told myself if the leader of the State believes so much that God will come and rescue Abia and protect Abia, that’s how it is going to be”, he enthused.

Kalu went further to call on the people of the state to continue to play their part by abiding by the preventive measures and directives of government in order to remain safe from the pandemic.

On the proposed controversial Infectious Disease Bill at the National Assembly, the lawmaker said there is no hidden agenda about the bill and informed that “In the wisdom of the leadership of the House, they have sent this bill…to relevant Committees. Which means, Nigerians should expect to be invited for a public hearing.

“So people should stop panicking. We will remove everything they would want us to remove and we will add the ones they will want us to add to make sure it’s a healthy bill that would be made an Act to serve Nigerians.

“I’m sure God will come to our rescue because we put our whole faith in Him and not necessarily rely on just science. He will make Abia a place of refuge for so many people who are looking up to him”, he concluded emphatically.

Recall that Abia has two index cases out of which one has been successfully nursed back to good health and discharged while the other is in stable condition.
