Deputy Speaker Kalu Emphasizes Equality Among House Members

Deputy Speaker of the House of Representatives, Rt. Hon. Benjamin Okezie Kalu, has reiterated that all members of the parliament are equal and colleagues, regardless of political affiliation, economic or social background.

Responding to allegations of preferential treatment towards ranking members, Kalu clarified that seating arrangements, not seniority or experience, determine recognition to contribute to debates.

The Deputy Speaker emphasized that presiding officers are servant-leaders, not bosses, committed to upholding democratic principles and ensuring equal opportunities for all members to be heard.

Under the leadership of Rt. Hon. Tajudeen Abbas, the 10th House will maintain fairness, justice, and openness, recognizing the value of every member’s contribution.
