Rt Hon Benjamin Kalu, Deputy Speaker of the House of Representatives, has stressed the importance of effective government communication with the public.
During a special edition on Monday of the “Ben Kalu’s Mandate” program on ABN TV And Flo Fm, Kalu highlighted the need for proactive information dissemination to address Nigeria’s challenges.
Kalu emphasized that the government’s communication mechanism should be participatory, engaging citizens and promoting transparency, accountability, and good governance. He urged government agencies and the media to actively share the positive impacts of government initiatives.

Furthermore, Kalu called on President Tinubu to establish a platform for engaging Nigerians and keeping them informed about the administration’s activities. He believes this would reduce tension and foster a sense of direction among citizens.
In addition, Kalu urged the National Orientation Agency (NOA) to intensify its efforts in educating Nigerians on the government’s policies and programs. He noted that the agency has a crucial role to play in shaping public opinion and promoting national values.
“The NOA must work harder in sensitizing Nigerians on the government’s efforts and initiatives,” Kalu said. “This will help to build trust and promote a sense of ownership among citizens.”
Kalu also emphasized that the lack of effective communication is a major contributor to Nigeria’s problems. “The issue is not that the government is inactive, but rather that the public is unaware of its efforts,” he said.
“By enhancing communication, we can build trust and promote a sense of ownership among Nigerians.”
