……..Kalu Has Not Declared For Abia Governorship
The Office of the Deputy Speaker of the House of Representatives, Rt. Hon. Benjamin Okezie Kalu, has dismissed as false and misleading reports claiming that he has declared interest in contesting the 2027 Abia State governorship election.
In a press release dated December 14, 2025, and signed by his Chief Press Secretary, Levinus Nwabughiogu, and made available to ABN TV, the office described the report attributed to an online platform, Native Reporters as baseless, unfounded, and lacking credibility.
According to the statement, the Deputy Speaker has not, at any time, made any public or private declaration to run for the governorship of Abia State in 2027. It stressed that such claims are products of misinformation circulating on social media.
The release noted that Rt. Hon. Kalu remains fully committed to his four-year mandate of representing Bende Federal Constituency and serving Nigerians with dedication, integrity, and focus on his legislative responsibilities.
The Office further called on Native Reporters to retract the publication and adhere to fundamental journalistic principles of truth, accuracy, and fairness. Media practitioners were also cautioned against spreading unverified information and urged to always confirm facts before publication.
The statement added that any political decisions or future intentions of the Deputy Speaker will be formally communicated by his political family at the appropriate time.
The Office reaffirmed its commitment to transparent communication and responsible engagement with the media and the public.
