Abia state Governor, Okezie Ikpeazu has ordered relevant authorities in the state to work with Abia State Public Utilities Management Agency (APUMA) and Abia State Environmental Protection Agency (ASEPA) and ensure the immediate demolition of all unauthorized shanties and makeshift structures around Waterside Central Market and Livestock Market, Aba.
The governor frowned at the manner unapproved structures are rapidly springing up around the affected areas.
In a release on Monday, the governor through the Commissioner for Information and Strategy, Barr Eze Chikamnayo made available to ABN TV, warned that such will not be tolerated.
He also ordered that no similar structure should be allowed to be erected in the areas.
“Following reports of new and unapproved huts and makeshift structures that are rapidly springing up around Waterside Central Market and Livestock Market, Aba, Governor Okezie Ikpeazu has directed the immediate stoppage of such constructions.
“The Governor has also directed the relevant Market Committees to work with Abia State Public Utilities Management Agency (APUMA) and Abia State Environmental Protection Agency (ASEPA) in ensuring the immediate demolition of such new structures as well as prevent erection of new ones” the statement read in part.
