Demand Details Of Tinubu’s N500bn Loan Request – Shehu Sani Tells NASS

Former lawmaker, Shehu Sani has urged the National Assembly to demand the complete breakdown of the figures contained in President Bola Tinubu’s N500bn loan request.

Sani also advised the lawmakers to ascertain which government agency would handle the funds and how it is going to be disbursed.

The President had submitted an N500bn loan request for legislative approval for palliatives to cushion the effect of petrol subsidy removal.

However, in a post on his verified Twitter handle on Thursday, the social critic claimed that such a demand would ensure there’s transparency and prevent any controversy that might arise.

He wrote, “Before the approval of the N500 billion Presidential request for the palliatives, the National Assembly needs to demand the item-by-item breakdown of the figures; who is going to be in charge of the money; which agency of Government will handle the funds and how it’s going to be disbursed. This is for transparency and avoiding the past humanitarian ministry fiasco.”
