President Muhammadu Buhari and the National Assembly have been told to immediately declare killer herdsmen as terrorists, if peace and progress will return to the country.

Lagos-based socio-political critic, Chief Adesunbo Onitiri, who disclosed this in a statement, said the killer herdsmen do not represent the true and genuine Fulanis going about their life lawfully.

According to him, it is time to show seriousness in handling the ravaging insecurity by declaring all the rampaging Fulani killer herdsmen as ‘Terrorist Group.’

“The insurgency, kidnapping, banditry and maiming of innocent Nigerians are becoming unacceptable and unbearable. These Fulani-turned terrorists commit crimes on our highways and forests with total impunity, as if they are above the laws. While they commit these crimes, our security agencies look the other way,” he alleged.

Onitiri noted that no killer herdsmen has been arrested and prosecuted, wondering if the Buhari administration is behind these criminals.

He said government should take decisive and ruthless action against any Nigerian masquerading as bandits without fear or favour.

Ontiri said the National Assembly should enact a law to checkmate all criminal elements bearing sophisticated weapons in the forests and on highways, saying it is illegal and criminal.

Besides, he said the National Assembly should ban open grazing. “In advanced nations, cows are not seen on the streets anymore. They should adopt modern farming traditions.”
