The governor of Cross River State, Senator Bassey Otu, has formally appointed Dr (Mrs) Glory Effiong and Patric Bassey as the state’s accountant general and surveyor general, respectively.
Speaking at the swearing-in ceremony on Thursday in Calabar, Otu emphasised that their appointments align with his commitment to working with individuals who are tested, trusted, and committed to excellence.
He said, “For the Surveyor General, we are entering a more demanding era in land administration, and I’m confident we will overcome any challenges. For the Accountant General, we anticipate increased revenue inflow into the state.
“The financial future of Cross River is promising, and with your expertise, we will sustain and grow our economic progress. The results of our hard work are already visible. Let the critics speak; we know our direction is sound.”
Secretary to the State Government, Prof. Anthony Owan Enoh, also spoke at the inauguration, expressing confidence in the two officials whose appointments are now substantive, acknowledging the work already accomplished even before their formal swearing-in and expressed optimism about the positive developments ahead.
In her remarks, Effiong expressed deep appreciation for the trust placed in her and reaffirmed her commitment to improving the efficiency and transparency of public financial management.
“I have learned a lot working closely with His Excellency in recent times. Together with my colleague, we pledge to raise the standard of service delivery in Cross River. We will give our best to move the state to greater heights,” she added.
