C’Rivers APC Denies Involvement In N12.5bn Petition Against Senator

Cross River State’s All Progressives Congress has rejected the N12.5 billion constituency fund petition against Agom Jarigbe, the senator for the Northern Senatorial District.

The party also warned members against engaging in unauthorised legal actions in the name of the party.

“The petitions purportedly authorised by the APC concerned group, written against the sitting senator of the Northern Senatorial District on the issue of the N12.5bn constituency fund, are not from us, and we dissociate ourselves fully from them,” the state APC Chairman, Alphonsus Eba, said on Tuesday.

The PUNCH reports that the APC, on Monday, declared its intention to unseat Jarigbe of the Peoples Democratic Party in the 2027 general elections.

Speaking to newsmen on Tuesday, Eba, however, dismissed the involvement of the party in the alleged N12.5bn fraud petition against the senator.

The party expressed dissatisfaction over the petition allegedly filed by some concerned APC stakeholders in Northern Cross River.

Speaking to newsmen, Eba reiterated that any legal matters concerning the party must be authorised by the leadership to avoid misrepresentation and internal division.

He said, “We want to sound a note of warning to every member of our party.

“On no account should anybody in the name of our party engage any lawyer for any purpose that seems to give an impression that this party is behind it.”

He reaffirmed the party’s endorsement of Governor Bassey Otu and the Deputy Governor, Peter Odey, as the party’s sole candidates for the 2027 gubernatorial election.

Eba said the performance of the current administration in office justified their continued leadership, stating, “Nobody changes a winning team.”
