Creativity: Foundation Rewards Talented Youths With Cash Prize In Abia (Photos)

Foundation for promotion of Youth Creativity and Empowerment (YCE Foundation) at “Day of Creativity” on Saturday rewarded outstanding participants with cash prizes.

ABN TV report that the event featured talent showcasing, had 3 winners emerge from 15 finalists in this year’s YCE Entrepreneurship competition.

The winners include the second runner-up, Onyemachi Genus Osinachi who won the sum of 100,000, the first runner-up, Okechukwu Livingstone Ikefuama who won the sum of 200,000, and Princess Shola-Olaye Ebube, the grand prize winner who went home with the sum of N500,000.

Speaking at the event, Mrs. Uju Agommuo emphasized the need for the media industry to pay adequate attention through adequate reportage in youth entrepreneurship.

The Executive director of YCE Zimchim Andrea in a chat with newsmen said, “I would say starting up this organization my mantra was ‘don’t ask what the government can do for you but what you can do for the government’.

“But I want the sort of change that a little bit, differently ask what you can do for your community not what the community can do for you but also hold your leaders accountable.

“We found out that it’s no longer a situation of you can ignore politics and facing on your business because someway somehow all of this they will get to you so now we have to find a way to actually actively engage. If you don’t have to run for an office but you need to understand that your vote matters and the vote of your community matters”.

YCE Foundation was founded in 2012 with a primary focus on innovatively engaging young people on maximizing their potentials and further create sustainable platforms for them to thrive wholesomely

In the last one year, YCE foundation, with funding support of the Swiss Embassy has run a pilot project in Abia state, sensitizing youth and women to their Civic and Economic engagement rights.

10 out of the 17 local Government Areas in Abia state has been reached.
