COVID-19: We Have More Palliatives For You, Ikpeazu Assures Abians, Says Lockdown Still On

In a release signed by the Secretary to Abia State Government/ Chairman, Abia State COVID-19 Committee, Barr. Chris Ezem on Wednesday and made available to ABN TV, the governor assured Abians that front line service providers and medical experts are dealing with the COVID-19 index cases in the state.

“Government wishes to inform Abians and residents alike that the lockdown order is still in force and subsists in the state. Abians are encouraged to continue to obey the said directive. On its part, Government shall continue to roll out palliatives through churches and reaching out to the vulnerable and less-privilege groups in Abia State.

“Furthermore, Government will send palliatives through our 17 Local Government Councils in liaison with Traditional Rulers, President-Generals and women leaders to their various Communities.

“Government assures Abians that our front line service providers and medical experts are dealing with the current index cases in Abia and our Medical Protocol are already carrying out contact tracing of all who came in contact with the index patients” he said.

He appealed to the people of the State as a matter of duty, to continue to obey and comply with its directive on lockdown in order to forestall spread of the index case in the State.

“Government wishes to use this medium to further thank all our donors and public-spirited individuals for their financial and material support to the State in the fight against coronavirus pandemic in Abia State.

“Finally, Government appreciates the untiring efforts of all our front line service providers, medical and para-medical personnel, State and Local Government Enforcement Teams, security agencies, including those on essential duties and particularly Ndi-Abia for their understanding and continued compliance to the lockdown order” he concluded.
