Governor Okezie Ikpeazu has flagged a massive massive public enlightenment on COVID-19 on the need to abide by the preventive protocols against the pandemic across the local governments in the state.

This is contained in a statement issued on Sunday by the Chief Press Secretary to the Governor, Onyebuchi Ememanka.

He said the governor has directed the State Ministry of Health to liaise with the Chairmen of the 17 Local Government Councils of the State and ensure the immediate formation of Covid-19 Committees at the Local Government level.

He said these committees will be saddled with the responsibility of disseminating vital information on the pandemic across the remotest parts of the State

According to Ememanka, the Governor also reminds the people of Abia State that the second wave of the COVID-19 pandemic is here with them, urging that it must be treated with every seriousness.

“While our medical emergency services are on full alert, the Governor makes it clear that the first and most effective line of defence against the pandemic is at the personal level. Therefore all Abians must take personal responsibility for their own safety and health,” the statement added.
