COVID-19: Deceased Nasarawa Lawmaker Treated ‘Malaria’ In 3 Hospitals, Dozens Of Health Workers At Risk

Dozens of health workers who attended to the deceased member of the Nasarawa State House of Assembly, Sulaiman Adamu, stand the risk of Coronavirus infection as the lawmaker’s test result turns positive two days after his burial.

ABN TV recalls that on Sunday, Governor Abdullahi Sule had confirmed that Mr Adamu, who died at the Federal Medical Centre, FMC, Keffi, tested positive for COVID-19 two days after burial, advising those who came in contact with the lawmaker to go on isolation.

It was gathered that late Adamu was rushed to the FMC Keffi when he developed symptoms and after treating suspected malaria disease in three different facilities in Nasarawa Local Government Area, his home town.

The deceased lawmaker later died Thursday night and was given a befitting burial on Friday, with most members of the State Assembly, families, and friends in attendance.

Credible sources revealed that most of the health workers in both the three facilities where he treated malaria and the FMC Keffi where the lawmaker died never put on their personal protective equipment, PPEs.

There are indications, therefore, that the State Government might quarantine all the health workers to curb the possible spread of the virus.
