COVID-19: Abia CP Warns Against Undermining Govt Instructions, Releases Helplines

The Commissioner of Police Abia State Command, CP Ene Okon, has called on the people of the state to always abide by the instructions from the government of the state under the leadership of Dr. Okezie Ikpeazu and the police authorities as a measure to curtail the spread of COVID-19.

This is contained in a release signed by the state PPRO SP Ogbonna Geoffrey, on behalf of the commissioner of police and made available to ABN TV

The commissioner added that the Police are all aware of the seriousness of this dreaded pandemic, insisting that this is not the time to be overzealous with religion.

He appealed to Abians to observe the temporary closure of academic institutions, social events as well as religious activities exceeding a maximum of 50 people.

“Consequently, the Commissioner of Police Abia State has directed routine visits and patrols to check the level of compliance at all levels as directed. He has also directed prompt release of all suspects involved in bail-able offences and screening of those arrested for outrageous offences before detention as well as restriction of Social visits to all Police Stations and Formations in the interim.
