Court Yet To Hear Orji Kalu’s Appeal Challenging His Conviction – Lawyer

Counsel to Orji Uzor Kalu, former governor of Abia state, Barrister Victor Etie has stated that the Appeal court is yet to hear Kalu’s suit challenging his conviction by federal high court in Lagos.

This is contrary to rumours making rounds that the Appeal court has dismissed the former governor’s appeal, ordering him to remain in prison.

Barrister Victor Etie, informed our correspondent that there is no truth in such rumour, saying it is the handiwork of mischief makers.

Speaking further he said that what happened was that Slok Nigeria Limited and Chief Jones Udeogu the other defendants in the matter approached the court of appeal on the grounds for them to determine whether the lower court has jurisdiction to determine the matter in the first place.

This he said has nothing to do with the substantive appeal which is pending and still unheard at the court of appeal

He added that senator Orji Uzor Kalu is not a party to that application by the other defendants and not bound by it.

He urged the public to discountenance that publication, labeling it not only false and misleading but a lame attempt by his detractors aimed at deceiving the public for cheap political gains.
