Community Denies Requesting For Information From National Assembly On Behalf Of Hon. Aguocha

The people of Nkwoachara Ward in Umuahia North Local Government Area comprising a political ward of Umuawa Alaocha and Umuawa Alaike communities have denied writing to the National Assembly requesting for the release details of monies and projects approved and made available for Ikwuano/Umuahia federal constituency of the state, saying such information never emanated from the community.

The community accused one Chijioke Ucheogu of requesting without the authorisation of the community.

Recall that in response to the request recently, the member representing the constituency said he is committed to open and transparent representation.

The request was filed under the Freedom of Information Act which gives a person, group, association, or organization the right to access information from Government Agencies, Parastatals, Federal Civil Service, Private and Public Sector organizations providing public services, etc.

But in a disclaimer signed on behalf of the ward, seven representatives of the wards while acknowledging the right of Chijioke Ucheogu to seek such information said the request never came from it.

The indigenes of Nkwoachara Ward resolved after a meeting on Monday at Umuawa Alaocha Civic Hall after reviewing the content of the request letter to the National Assembly.

Part of the resolution reads, “That Nkwoachara Ward did not authorize any person or group of persons to write on its behalf seeking any information from the Clerk, National Assembly, Abuja.

“That the request for information having been made on behalf of a fictitious coinage we implore the Clerk National Assembly Abuja to refuse/ignore the request.

“That Nkwoachara Ward advices persons who have any stone to grind with our performing Senator and Honourable member to be man enough to pursue his/her agenda personally and not under fictitious coinages.
