President Muhammadu Buhari congratulated Xi Jinping on his re-election to a third 5-year term as President and Chairman of the People’s Republic of China’s Central Military Commission (CMC) on Sunday.
Buhari’s spokesman, Mr. Femi Adesina stated this in an Abuja statement.
According to Buhari, relations between Nigeria and China, which stretch back to 1971 when both countries formally established diplomatic ties, have expanded significantly in strategic collaboration and bilateral commerce under President Xi’s leadership.
As a result, Nigeria’s president expressed hope that the strategic partnership with China will continue to flourish in leaps and bounds in the fields of military, commerce, politics, oil and gas, and finance connections.
Buhari further stated that such a collaboration would encompass collaboration in the telecommunications, agriculture, infrastructure development, and manufacturing sectors.
The President wishes the Chinese government and people ongoing peace, progress, and prosperity under President Xi’s capable and trusted leadership.
