APC House of Representatives candidate for Arochukwu/Ohafia Federal Constituency of Abia State in the 2023 general elections, Chief Daniel Chimezie Okeke has felicitated with the people of Ebem Ohafia in Ohafia local government area on their successful celebration of the iri ji (new yam festival) which coincided with their Igba Ekpe on Saturday.
In a goodwill message on Sunday, the renowned philanthropist and entrepreneur said the iri ji festival apart from highlighting the rich cultural heritage of Ndigbo serves as a veritable platform to strengthen the bond of unity, love, and peaceful co-existence among the people.
The Express Concerns CEO noted that the successful hosting of the double celebrations is an eloquent testimony of the resolve of the people of Ohafia, particularly Ebem to live in harmonious co-existence, urging other communities in the local government and Abia in general to emulate Ebem.
He said, “I am deeply satisfied that the iri ji and igba ekpe festivals took place under the most serene and peaceful atmosphere in Ebem without a single record of breakdown of law and order.
“I also want to commend the traditional rulers and community leaders, town unions, and youth groups for this laudable feat.
“I also thank the officers and men of the 14 Brigade Nigerian Army Ebem Ohafia, Ohafia under the supervision of Brigadier General Adegoke Adetuyi for the role they play in entrenching peace in our communities.
“I’m optimistic that the harvest of the coming year will be even more bountiful,” he said.
