The Abia State Community Policing/Vigilante (ASCP/V) has officially appointed Chief Jeko Eke Kalu as the new Abia North Area Commander, in a move aimed at strengthening grassroots security coordination and community-based policing across the zone.
The appointment was conveyed in a formal letter issued by the Abia State Command Headquarters of the ASCP/V, dated January 26, 2026, and signed by the State Commander, Apostle Dr. Daniel Iheadindume.
According to the letter, Chief Kalu’s appointment takes immediate effect from January 26, 2026, and will run for a tenure of four years. He is tasked with overseeing security operations and administrative control across the Abia North Area Command, which covers the three local government areas of Ohafia, Bende, and Arochukwu.
The ASCP/V management stated that Chief Kalu is empowered to superintend, command, and control the affairs of his office in synergy with the local government commanders in the three LGAs, as well as coordinate with subordinates and the State Command to ensure effective community policing and vigilance within his jurisdiction.
The letter further emphasized that the appointment reflects the organization’s confidence in Chief Kalu’s leadership capacity and commitment to promoting security and ethical standards in community safety operations.
In its congratulatory message, the Abia State Community Policing/Vigilante expressed optimism that Chief Kalu would reciprocate the confidence reposed in him through optimal performance and sustained dedication to duty, now and in the years ahead.
The ASCP/V reaffirmed its broader mission of “Security for All Communities,” noting that the appointment forms part of ongoing efforts to strengthen local security architecture and enhance cooperation between community structures and state-level command.
