Chelsea reportedly blamed a technology glitch for winger Hakim Ziyech’s failed January transfer deadline day move to Paris Saint-Germain.
Ziyech agreed to personal terms with PSG for a loan move for the rest of the season, but the deal fell through on Tuesday night.
Chelsea and PSG were both expected to agree, but the paperwork needed to complete Ziyech’s transfer was not submitted on time.
On deadline day, Ziyech was in Paris preparing to be unveiled as a PSG player, but he reluctantly returned to London and will finish the season at Chelsea.
According to reports in France, the Blues sent the incorrect documentation three times.
Chelsea, however, is now claiming that the failed move was caused by a “technology glitch,” according to The Telegraph.
Ziyech was left ‘upset’ by the late drama, although the 29-year-old was eager to leave Stamford Bridge in January.
