The transfer News Live reported that Bayer Leverkusen striker Victor Boniface is scouted by English Premier League side Chelsea.
Boniface joined Leverkusen last season for €20m from Royale Union SG following an impressive campaign with the Belgian Jupiler Pro League club.
The Akure-born striker had a fantastic debut season in the German Bundesliga, contributing to 31 goal involvements in 39 games (21 goals and 10 assists). His outstanding performances helped Leverkusen secure the Bundesliga title and the German Cup and were close to winning the Europa League title but fell to the sword of compatriot Ademola Lookman, whose hat trick helped Atalanta beat the German side in the final.
Boniface has continued with his impressive form this season, with four goals and one assist already in six games.
His impressive start to the 2024/25 campaign has seen talks of a potential move with the player said to be on Chelsea’s radar.
“Chelsea have scouted Victor Boniface in recent weeks as they track his progress at Bayer Leverkusen,” Transfer News Live.
Last Thursday, according to TBR football’s Graeme Bailey, EPL trio Liverpool, Tottenham Hotspurs, and Newcastle had their scouts in attendance during the UEFA Champions League between Atalanta and Arsenal last Thursday to watch former Everton player, Ademola Lookman, ahead of a potential move next summer.
Victor Osimhen is another player whose future continues to be discussed with Juventus and Paris Saint-Germain, who are still monitoring his process.
While Chelsea are now keeping track of Boniface, Leverkusen will hope they can keep hold of their striker again, having ward off the Nigerian from Manchester United last summer.
The Bundesliga champions placed a £47 million price tag on Boniface, who was a top target of the Premier League giants during the transfer window.
Though the 23-year-old, according to Transfermarkt, is currently valued at €40 million and with four years left on his running contract, Leverkusen will hope to make a sizable fee on the striker if they decide to sell him.
