We Can’t Recognize Kingsley Ononogbu As Our Chairman, Says Abia APC Leaders

APC leaders and elders in Abia have vowed not to recognize Mr. Kingsley Ononogbu As the state chairman of the party, insisting that his purported inauguration by the national leadership of the party in Abuja is an attempt by the Secretary of the National Caretaker Executive and Convention Extra-Ordinary Committee of the APC, Senator John Udoudehe and cohorts to gift the party to their suspended friend in the state.

They said the purported certification of Mr. Ononogbu, whom they described an unknown individual is an illegality that will not be allowed to stand, noting that the party is not a one man’s business that can be used as a gift.

This was part of the resolution reached on Saturday after a high-powered and well-attended leaders meeting, on Saturday to address what they called purported inauguration of Mr. Ononogbu believed to be loyal to Chief Ikechi Emenike who has been at a dagger-draw battle with Hon. Donatus Nwankpa, the immediate past chairman of the party.

The Abia APC leaders expressed gratitude to Hon. Chief Donatus Enyinnaya Nwankpa, for the services to the party as the state chairman since inception in 2013, wishing him well in his future endeavours.

At the enlarged leaders’ meeting, the outgoing Chairman of APC, Abia State, Hon Chief Donatus Nwankpa, transfered and handed over the reins of leadership of the party in the state to Rt Hon Iheanacho Obioma (Chomen), whom he said is the duly elected State Chairman.

According to the communique, the other handover formalities would be performed at the State Secretariat soon.

Continuing, The Abia leaders resolved to return the party to the real owners at the grassroots and also agreed to convene a mega meeting of the party by the authentic Abia state APC as soon as possible.

The leaders further resolved to close ranks, put their differences, if any aside, for the interest and progress of the All Progressive Congress in the state, and unanimously pledged to contribute financially to enable the party to carry on with its activities and Programmes unhindered.

The APC leaders also encouraged all party members and women to contribute their s towards the growth of the party, reminding all that one good turn deserves another.

The communique by Abia APC leaders, made available to journalists in Umuahia on Sunday, by State Publicity Secretary, Mike Ozoemena, partly read, “It was also agreed that an open letter shall as a matter of urgency be written to the National leader of our great party and President, President Muhammadu Buhari, whose name is being dropped as the backer and sustainer of the charade going on and destabilizing the All Progressives Congress in Abia state.
