Buhari Has Done A Lot For South East, Governors In The Region Hiding His Achievements — Andy Uba

The governorship candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Anambra, Senator Andy Uba, says the achievements of President Muhammadu Buhari in the South East are being concealed by the governors.

Speaking with newsmen in Lagos on Monday, the APC candidate, who was governor for 17 days in 2007, said the state has missed the Central Government for too long.

He declared that with the level of defections to the APC, the party was confident of winning the November 6 election.

Uba said the APC government has done a lot not only for the people of the South East but the entire country but their achievements are not well publicised.

Uba said, “Can you compare the things that the APC has done all these number of years with what other governments did? They are like me that doesn’t say what I have done, they keep quiet. I have done a lot but I don’t talk. APC has done a lot. Compare it, check it.

“Can you check what all these other parties like APGA, PDP, YPP, with what APC has done in Nigeria? We are all Nigerians. Look at what is happening in Lagos.”

He said people cannot complain of marginalisation under APC when the same government is building the Second Niger Bridge and other major infrastructural projects in the region.

“When people are talking of marginalisation, how? Is it by building Second Niger Bridge? Is it by building all these infrastructures. They (APC governments) are working but the governors are hiding whatever APC is doing. They can’t cover it this time around because once I get there, it is over. Nigerians and the world will see what APC has been doing,” he said.

Uba stated that Anambra would benefit a lot from joining the ruling party at the centre, disclosing that if elected he would prioritise security, job creation, youth empowerment, among others.

He said, “The centre is key. For 16 years, we don’t know what the centre means. You must open your arm and make sure you work with the Central Government. Once you do so, you will get a lot of things. Look at other states, look at Anambra.

“You can’t compare Anambra to Imo State now that has gone back to the centre. Second Niger Bridge is coming, look at other projects.”

On the insecurity in Anambra and other parts of the South-East, he disclosed that he is engaging with the youth to make sure the election holds in an atmosphere of peace.

He said many youths are taking up arms because of the disconnect between them and the government.

He added that governance at the grassroots has been killed because of the refusal to conduct local government for the past 16 years in Anambra. He said one of his priorities would be to conduct local government election as soon as he gets into government.
