BREAKING: Igbere TV Boss Regains Freedom

The Executive Director of popular online medium Igbere TV, Mr. Emeh James Anyalekwa, has been released.

He was abducted by unknown gunmen on Thursday in the Kubwa area of Abuja.

His younger brother, Prince Udochukwu Eme, confirmed this in a statement made available to ABN TV on Friday, in Abuja.

ABN TV recalls that Anyalekwa, who doubles as National President of the Online Media Practitioners Association of Nigeria (OMPAN), was adopted in a gestapo manner.

The development sent cold shivers down the spines of friends and family of the Abia-born journalist, with his phone lines switched off and online platforms “hacked”.

Breaking the news of his freedom, Anyalekwa’s brother, Udochukwu said the Igbere TV Director regained freedom late Friday.

“He (Anyalekwa) breathed the air of freedom at about 4:30pm when he arrived (location withheld)”, he said, declining further comments.

The statement quoted Udochukwu as saying, “I am excited to inform you that my elder brother has (finally) regained freedom…,” while addressing journalists.

He thanked the wonderful people of Nigeria for their pronounced concerns and demand for the immediate release of Mr. Anyalekwa.

“Nigerians in unison showed that suppression of journalists is frontal attack on freedom of the press.

“Though worn out, yet Anyalekwa has asked me to extend his gratitude to all Nigerians”, he added, hinting that his brother would be undergoing medical check-up soon.

The Force Public Relations Officer, DCP Frank Mba, could not be reached for comments.
