Senate President Godswill Akpabio has criticized what he described as a one-sided narrative reportedly presented to the United States, suggesting that only Christians have been victims of terrorist attacks in Nigeria.
Akpabio noted that the reality on the ground shows that both Christians and Muslims have suffered devastating losses at the hands of terrorists over the past decade.
“Some people must have gone to the U.S. and presented a one-sided story, making it seem like only Christians have been killed by terrorists in Nigeria. I can tell you that many Muslims have also lost their lives over the past 10 years, just as Christians have,” Akpabio said.

His remarks came as the Senate deferred debate on a motion raised by Senator Ali Ndume to next week Tuesday, when lawmakers will hold a closed-door session to deliberate on the U.S. Senate’s allegations of Christian genocide in Nigeria and issue an official response.
