Boko Haram Will Soon Be History – Buni

Governor Mai Mala Buni of Yobe State has declared that Boko Haram terrorism will soon be history, as terrorists cannot take away the goodwill of leaders and their people.

Buni declared this yesterday in Maiduguri while commiserating with Governor Babagana Zulum of Borno State over the recent attack on his convoy at Baga when he was going to resettle 521 Internally Displaced Persons (IDPs) households.

The banditry in the North East has claimed over 32,000 lives and property worth N3.42 trillion in Borno, Adamawa and Yobe states since 2009.

“One thing insurgents cannot succeed in doing is taking away the goodwill from you and the people of Borno, including other Nigerians,” he said.

ALSO, Governor Zulum met with families of policemen and civilian JTF volunteers who were ambushed on Friday while on their way to Baga as his security back-up.

He visited the headquarters of the state police command in Maiduguri on Monday where the bereaved families gathered to receive him.

During the visit, the Commissioner of Police, Bello Makwashi, listed the names of his deceased personnel.

The widows appealed to the governor for support during the trying moment. On his part, the governor vowed to support the families in every way possible.

“I am purposely here to sympathise and condole with you, our brothers and sisters, the families of our deceased policemen. It is very unfortunate that the incident happened. May Almighty God, in His infinite mercy, forgives and reward them for their sacrifices and may he grant you the fortitude to bear this huge loss that is for all of us,” he said.
