A near-tragic accident disrupted the quiet of Lagos Street by St. Finbars Road junction in Umuahia, Abia State last night as a runaway truck wreaked havoc around 8 p.m.
According to information gathered by ABN TV, a big truck reportedly experienced brake failure and subsequently lost control, crashing into a high-tension electric pole. The impact caused significant damage to the pole, electric wires, and several nearby shops.
Fortunately, no lives were lost in the incident. However, the aftermath has left affected shop owners counting their losses, while residents in the area may face power disruptions due to the damaged electrical infrastructure.

Efforts to contact the Abia State Police Public Relations Officer, ASP Maureen, for comments on the incident have so far been unsuccessful.
Authorities, emergency services, and EEDC are advised to take urgent measures to address the damage and ensure safety in the area.
