Biden’s Delegation To Tinubu’s Inauguration (See Full List)

The group that US President Joe Biden will send to Bola Tinubu’s inauguration has been announced.

There will be no fewer than 65 Heads of State and other world leaders present for the inauguration of Tinubu.

On May 29 in Eagle Square, Abuja, the former governor of Lagos State will take the oath of office as Nigeria’s 16th president.

Past presidents, diplomats, leaders of international organizations, well-known Nigerians, and officials of foreign governments and agencies are also anticipated at the nation’s seventh transition ceremony.

The official start of the inauguration festivities will be Tinubu’s investiture as Grand Commander of the Order of the Federal Republic and Kashim Shettima as Grand Commander of the Order of the Niger on Thursday.

The high-profile event is scheduled to draw representatives from Nigeria’s traditional allies, including the United States, United Kingdom, Canada, France, Saudi Arabia, United Arab Emirates, Pakistan, China, Germany, Finland, Jamaica, Japan, Israel, Turkey, and several more.

A nine-person delegation for the inauguration was announced by Biden on Monday night in a statement posted on the White House website.

Marcia L. Fudge, secretary of the US Department of Housing and Urban Development, will serve as the delegation’s leader.

The Honorable Enoh T. Ebong, Director, U.S. Trade and Development Agency

Mary Catherine Phee, a distinguished assistant secretary of state for African affairs in the U.S. Department of State

Judd Devermont, Senior Director for African Affairs at the National Security Council and Special Assistant to the President

The Hon. Monde Muyangwa, assistant administrator for the U.S. Agency for International Development’s Bureau for Africa.

The former president of Kenya, Uhuru Kenyatta, will give a lecture on “Deepening Democracy for Integration and Development” on May 27 as part of the planned events for the inauguration.

Additionally, there will be a Regimental Dinner in the Commander-in-Chief’s honor on Tuesday, May 23, a Valedictory Federal Executive Council meeting on May 24, a Public Lecture and Juma’at prayer at the National Mosque on May 26, a Children’s Day Parade and Party on May 27, and an Interdenominational Church Service at the National Christian Centre on May 28.

Also scheduled for May 28 is the Inauguration Dinner/Gala Night at the State House Conference Center, while May 29 will see the inauguration parade at Eagle Square and the swearing-in of the president-elect and vice president-elect.

After the inauguration ceremony, a luncheon will be held at the State House Banquet Hall exclusively for the President, his fellow presidents, heads of state, and invited guests.
