Benue Corps members are expected to leave a legacy during and after their required service year, according to Mrs. Grace, Director of the NYSC.
She also charged the Corps Members to be security conscious as well as interact very well with people.
Ogbuogebe, who was in Makurdi on Wednesday as part of her oversight tour of states under the zone, told corps members to use the service year to write their names on the sand of time.
She said, “Corps Members ought to make themselves relevant in their places of primary assignments and live a life of impact; let it be on record that an impactful individual has passed by, and also be role models.”
Ogbuogebe further charged the Corps Members to be security conscious as well as interact very well with people, saying, “Don’t be a lone ranger; be security conscious and don’t feel too big that you will not relate with people. ”
While stating that good and lasting relationships are built during the service year, the zonal boss further encouraged the corps members to sustain the skills they started with from the camp and master them for self-employment.
Ogbuogebe informed the Corps members to note that they are important assets to the scheme and the nation, stating that the scheme was meant to mentor youths towards being better citizens.
The director, who also had an interactive session with the staff at the secretariat, advised staff members to be diligent and dedicated and imbibe professionalism in their duties, be proactive, and be abreast with civil service and NYSC information and operations.
She also cautioned the staff to have zero tolerance for extortion and other vices that may bring the organisation’s image to disrepute.
She encouraged the workers to always appear pleasant and take good care of their health. “Don’t neglect your health,” she said.
Earlier in her welcome address, the State Coordinator, Mrs. Veronica Garba, pledged the workers’ commitment to continue to partner with the state government and other stakeholders to achieve the scheme’s mandate.
